Mind Course
By understanding how our minds work and the importance of a healthy mood we can develop healthy routines which become healthy habits and take greater responsibility for our self-care management and focus on what we do have in life rather than what we feel we may be lacking.
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act as we cope with life. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. The benefits of having a good mental health can include:
- Reduction in anxiety.
- Improved moods.
- Clearer thinking.
- A greater sense of calm or inner peace.
- Increased self-esteem.
- Reduced risk of depression.
- Improvements in relationships.

When we can create a healthy mood and positive mindset, we are better placed to support our wellbeing and manage our self-care. It is normal for everyone to experience ups and downs, highs and lows, peaks, and troughs throughout life. After all, we are not in control of outside events that occur daily, such as being splashed at the bus stop by the water thrown up as a car drives through a puddle. We are, however, in control of how we respond to those events and how much focus we choose to give them throughout our day.
By understanding how our minds work and the importance of a healthy mood we can develop healthy routines which become healthy habits and take greater responsibility for our self-care management and focus on what we do have in life rather than what we feel we may be lacking.
We can further support our mood with nutrition, stress management and relaxation. We will explore each of these areas throughout our Mind Corner.
