strategies to cope with stress

  • Identify anything you think may be triggering your stress. It may be related to work, relationships, health, or environment.
  • It is useful to explore your perception of pressure or urgency to do something. You may be surprised how much this comes from ourselves rather than external pressures. Learn to prioritise, to let go and say a guilt free no when you need to.
  • Practice some gentle exercise such as qigong, yoga, Pilates, or tai chi.
  • Practice meditation and mindfulness regularly.
  • Reduce your caffeine intake or switch to green tea.
  • Make time for the rest and sleep your body needs. Avoid screens for at least two hours before going to bed
  • Learn to pace your daily activities and alternate physical, mental and emotional tasks as much as possible.
  • Eat well and include Fruit and vegetables rich in vitamin C such as bell peppers, dark leafy greens, kiwifruit, broccoli, berries, citrusfruits, tomatoes, peas.
  • Include food rich in magnesium such as linseed, pumpkin, sesame, and sunflower seeds. Spinach, broccoli, basil, cashew nuts, almonds, brazil nuts
